Dear Garfield Families,
Spring has almost officially arrived, and with it comes one of the busiest and most exciting stretches of the school year! From musical performances to preparing for our next generation of students, there is a lot to celebrate and prepare for in the coming weeks.
Here is an overview of what’s happening at Garfield:
K,1,2 Concert
The Kindergarten through Second grade concert will be held on March 10th from 6:00-7:20pm.
We hope you will join us for this wonderful event that your children have been preparing for with Ms. Kinney. Entry will be through the 11th Street gym door and the door will open at 5:45 p.m. to allow families a moment to find seats and settle in.
Kinder Registration for 26-27
Kindergarten registration for the 2026-2027 school year is now open!
If you have a child entering kindergarten next year, we encourage you to complete their registration during the month of March. Registering early is incredibly helpful, as it allows us to plan our staffing and resources effectively to ensure every new student has the best possible start.
OSAS: State Testing
K-5 students who are developing English take the English Language Proficiency Assessment in March.
Also, all 3rd – 5th grade students will be taking their state assessments throughout the month of April. Third and Fourth graders take OSAS Math and English Language Arts and fifth graders take Math, ELA and Science.
Outdoor School
Outdoor school is coming up in May for 5th graders! They head to Newport from May 18 to May 20th.
We will have a lot of information to share on April 2nd for a Parent Information Night. More details to come!
