Gecko News 4/9/2026

Dear Garfield Families,

As our district navigates a season of significant change, we want to ensure our Garfield community feels supported and informed. We know that transitions of this scale come with many questions, and here are some opportunities this spring to learn more about what all is happening:

Community Information Night–4/22 from 6:00-7:30

Garfield will have a community information night on Wednesday, 4/22. At this event, district staff will present information on the Corvallis Promise, the upcoming grade-level model programming changes, and answer questions. Staff from transportation will also be available to answer questions about bus routes and transportation for the 2026–2027 school year.

Change to Spring Conference Days

The Corvallis School District, including Garfield, will not be hosting conferences this spring.  Due to the many staffing changes resulting from the closure of Letitia Carson Elementary and Cheldelin Middle School, we will be using those days to integrate staff into their new buildings.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and we look forward to building toward next year with 6th grade at Garfield and an increased offering of specials.

Open House–4/16 from 4:00-6:00 p.m.

All schools in Corvallis School District will host an Open House on the evening of Thursday, 4/16.  The purpose of this event is for families of students who will be moving schools to check out their new building and meet staff who will be working there next year.  Community members are welcome to tour buildings as well.  This is not a night for conferences or open classrooms for current students.
