Dear Parents,
We are working hard to get things ready for having our students return to on-site learning! We are looking forward to seeing the students back at Garfield on May 3rd and to continuing to work with our cohort C/Q students online. Together we will all do our best to make the rest of the school year a positive experience for students.
Just to recap, on-site learning begins on May 3rd and is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00am – 1:00pm. For students coming to the building, there is no official online component on those four days. Specials will continue to be online on Wednesdays.
If your student is in Cohort C or quarantining, you will be contacted by the teacher who will work with cohort C during the beginning of next week. It is possible that it will be another Garfield teacher and we will be able to create a schedule within the 8:00am – 1:00pm school time.
Next week, April 26-30, is a very important week and will look different so that we can prepare for the new schedule.
- There will be no students on campus this week; all learning will be virtual.
- The schedule for this week will be:
-
- Monday – Remote Core Instruction 8:15-11:00 am; asynchronous work in afternoon
- Tuesday – Remote Core Instruction 8:15-11:00 am; asynchronous work in afternoon
- Wednesday – specials classes, normal schedule
- Thursday – class meeting 8:15-9:00 am; asynchronous work after that
- Friday – class meeting 8:15-9:00 am; asynchronous work after that
If you are still undecided, I encourage you to contact your classroom teacher or the office for any information or needs that you may have to help you decide. If we know by next week, it will be easier to include your child in planning for the space and materials they will need within the classroom. We will of course adjust if the decision is made after that week, but I encourage you to let us know by Monday at the latest.
Backpacks will be allowed for school again beginning on May 3rd. Students are allowed to bring snacks from home and the school will also have snacks that can be provided to students. For lunch, school meals will be served “to-go” for eating at home. Families can pre-order online if they would like.
Please remember that if you have not been using district bussing during hybrid and you need bussing beginning on May 3rd, you need to register for that service at this link as soon as possible. Setting up bussing does take a few days and is initiated by your bus registration.
Bus stops, routes, and times will change with our new schedule. The bus company (STA) will contact families with details closer to the May 3rd start date. The routes will also be posted on the Corvallis School District website.
Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Nancy Davila-Williams,
Garfield Interim Principal
