Dear Parents,
Thank you so much to the Garfield PTA for your kind and generous gift during Staff Appreciation week! We appreciate all of your support and all that you do for Garfield students and staff!
We are looking forward to having kids back for on-site learning. The Garfield staff is working hard to prepare for the combined groups and to continue to support their students who will remain in cohort C. It will be great to see everyone on Monday. There are many logistics that we need to remind everyone of as we get ready:
Drop off and pick up:
Attached is a map of drop off and pick up spots around the school. To help avoid crowding at the gates during dismissal, we’ve made the following changes:
- If your student is in McConnell, Megale or Meyer’s classes, they will be able to leave from the gate outside of those modulars towards Garfield park unless they are picking up siblings or riding the bus. If your student is in those classes, and they ride a bike to school, they can lock their bike to the inside of that part of the fence each day.
- Students in Second grade, Arroyo’s kindergarten or Foulkes First grade can be picked up in the drive-up lanes in front of the school. Parents can also park in the parking lot to pick up the students in these classrooms.
- For all other students: Kinder and first grade students will be dismissed through the gate on Dixon, closest to the building. The gate on Dixon, closer to the playground, is reserved for 2nd-5th grade students.
The dismissal schedule will be staggered to help avoid crowding at the gates:
- 12:45 K-4 Cyclists release time
- 12:50 Kindergarten and First Grade release time
- 12:55 Second and Third Grade release time
- 1:00 Fourth and Fifth Grade release times
How to know if you should keep your child at home
Attached is a description of symptoms that we are asking all families to screen their children for before sending their student to school.
School Meals
Breakfast: Students will have the option of having breakfast at school each morning.
Snacks: Students are allowed to bring snacks from home; the school will also have snacks that can be provided to students.
Lunch: School Meals will be served “to-go” for eating at home. Families can pre-order online.
