Gecko News (9-17-2021)

Dear Parents,

We are so happy to have all of our kindergarten students officially starting in their whole groups this week! It’s been wonderful to see the kinders each day as they start their bilingual, educational journey with us.

We hope to be able to continue to provide a safe school environment for kids. To do this, we need your help. Whether indoors or outdoors, on school grounds, masks are required. If you plan to walk to your child’s classroom door, you are on school grounds and you should have a mask on.

Thank you for your help with this.

There are a few other requests and reminders for the week:

Parents at classroom doors

To help avoid crowding, we ask that all students be dropped off in the drop-off lane and if you are walking a student to school, please only walk them to the sidewalk by their class.

Only students should be waiting in line with other students.

We will have one more week of parents walking students through the west gates, at which point we will return to only having students come through the gates.

Kindergarten and first grade parents, please use this next week to remind your children that they will be walking to the very nearby doors on their own beginning on September 27th. Staff will be ready to assist students as needed.

Health Screening System

You should have received an email asking that you answer a few questions about your child’s health in a system called Crisis Go. We receive the results of your answers and this determines whether your student should come to school or not. If you have not received this email or need it re-sent, please contact the office.

Pick-up/Drop Off lane

Thank you for using the pick-up lane in front of the school for dropping off and picking up your child.

Please do not plan on picking up immediately in front of your child’s classroom. Pull all the way forward to allow for more cars to pull up behind you. Staff will be watching for your car and will send your child to your car. Please remain in your car.

If you need to talk to a teacher, please find a parking spot and walk to their door.

Meals On Rain Days

As you know, as a health and safety precaution we have been asking students to eat outside to begin the school year.  When it rains, it may be necessary for some students to eat indoors.  If students eat indoors, we will ensure:

  • 6 feet of distance between students whenever possible
  • Maximum ventilation / air flow
  • Student maskless time is limited to only when they are eating, for a total of less than 15 minutes.

Thank you for helping us to continue to keep our students and staff safe during this challenging time.

Open House

The Open House we have scheduled for September 23rd will be virtual. At this point in time, we have been directed to avoid all large gatherings on school sites. Teachers will be sending out links to this meeting early next week.
