Hello Garfield Families!
Thank you for participating in spring conferences. We miss seeing you in person but walking down the halls and seeing teachers on their screens with parents was really great too. I hope you all had a great conference.
A huge thank you to the Garfield PTA for providing dinner for teachers during our evening conferences!
Here is some information for you all:
Masking
Beginning on Monday, wearing a mask at school will be optional.
It will still be required to wear a mask in the health room and in any counseling offices.
Teachers have had and are continuing to have conversations with their students about this option and also reiterating other precautions that are still in place; handwashing, distancing, and staying home when ill. They are also having discussions about being kind to one another and respecting one another’s choices.
I know people feel many different ways about this – just know that we are going to focus on helping students navigate this change to their school environment.
Kindergarten Registration
It’s almost time to register your little ones for kindergarten!
- Enrollment
All children who turn 5 by September 15 can enroll from April 4th until April 15th for the 2022-2023 school year.
- Transfer Window
The transfer window opens April 4 and closes April 15 for out of boundary students. Students with native or heritage speakers of Spanish will have preference in our Dual Immersion School. Students with siblings already at the target school will also have priority over those students without. If there aren’t enough spots available at the target school, a lottery system will be implemented. The Transfer Application will be available in English and Spanish.
Spring Break
There is no school from March 21st – March 25th. We will be back in school March 28th.
