Gecko News (6-2-2022)

Hello everyone!

So many fun, memory-making events happen in the spring. A few of us recently attended the CHS DLI ceremony for graduating seniors. It was incredible to see our students from seven years ago and their families again. They are in graduation season – celebrating, planning and even saying their goodbyes. These incredible students are off to college, trade school or straight into joining the workforce as bilingual community members. We are so proud of every one of them as it is a reminder of what we are doing here. In addition to educating students, we are helping students to become bilingual members of the community. We all know this; our students attend a dual immersion school every day but when we get to see them seven years later as they get ready to graduate, it is a centering thought and a major celebration.

Here is some of what is happening in the last three weeks of school:

Carnival/Field Day:

You might have received an email from your child’s teacher asking for volunteers for the Carnival/Field Day event that the PTA has so kindly offered to put on for the school. We will have a one-hour session per grade level over the span of two days; Monday, June 13th and Tuesday, June 14th. If you are interested in volunteering to help with your child’s grade level event and your volunteer registration is complete and cleared, please reply to their classroom teacher’s email, call the office or email me at [email protected].

Please Note: We received notice from the district that as of June 1st, new volunteer registrations will not be cleared for this school year due to the high volume of applications and the time it takes to process them.

Lost and Found

The Lost and Found is filling up again! If your child is missing a sweatshirt or a jacket, feel free to stop by to check in the Garfield Lost and Found.

Gecko Club

If your child is in the after school Gecko Club Program, please note that their last day of Gecko Club is Thursday, June 16th.
