Dear Garfield Families,
Today we had our first Garfield assembly where we practiced the structure of assembly, introduced all of our staff to students and explained how to earn the Golden Awards throughout the year! Students did a wonderful job at the assembly!
We have some fun evening events planned for this year and we’ll share more details as we work them out but the first one coming up is our Garfield Picnic and Open House (Curriculum Night). At this event, families bring their dinner and enjoy a picnic with other families and staff. Afterwards, families are invited into the classrooms to learn about our learning schedules, routines, curriculum and classroom expectations. This event will be held on Thursday, September 21st from 5:30 -7:20pm.
Another event available to families is Family Math Nights! Our wonderful district Coach, Jennifer Vomicil, will be offering family math nights with a focus on learning about how we do math and how to support your children at home. We will hold these events by two grade levels at a time. The first one is for fourth and fifth graders and their families on October 10th from 6-7pm. We hope you’ll join us! If you are a cleared bilingual volunteer and are interested in helping with this event, please send me an email at [email protected] and I will put in touch with Jennifer. You can also call 541-757-5941.
