Dear Garfield Families,
It was so great to get to see many of you at the Garfield picnic! Thank you for joining us!
I also want to thank you all for helping our younger students make the transition to their classrooms independently. We appreciate you dropping them off at the gate entrance to allow them to get themselves to class and start the school day with their classmates. They are doing a great job!
Gecko Run
October will be a busy month at Garfield! Starting with a PTA sponsored event, the Garfield Gecko Run. If you would like to help with the Gecko Run, please contact the Garfield PTA at [email protected]. You’ll just need to register as a volunteer to help: Volunteer Application – Corvallis School District. Thanks for considering it.
Title 1 Compact
Today your child will come home with the Title 1 compact. This compact is a shared commitment to collaborate by doing our parts to best support students. After you have reviewed and signed it with your child, please return it to their classroom teacher.
Picture Day
October 6th is picture day! You can order pictures on the paper order form or online. If you order using the form, please make sure to return your order forms for pictures by Thursday, October 5th.
Spirit Week
This year, Halloween falls on a school day. We ask that costumes and candy be left at home.
However, from Wednesday, October 25th to Tuesday, October 31st, we will have our first school Spirit Week! We’ll be announcing the week’s themes at our next assembly after which I will make sure to share the information in that week’s newsletter.
Please leave toys at home
We are seeing an increase in toys at school. The school day is pretty full and we are fortunate to have the resources needed for learning and playing at school. Please have your students leave toys of any sort, including cards, at home. Thanks for your help with this.
Important upcoming dates:
October 5th: Garfield Gecko Run
October 6th: Picture Day
October 9th: Non School Day
October 10th: 6-7pm Family Math Night for 4th and 5th Graders and their families
October 11th: Hearing Screening
Have a nice weekend.
Sincerely,
Nancy Davila-Williams, Garfield Principal
