Dear Garfield Families,
It was so great to see so many of you at Open House! It was a beautiful evening in Corvallis, which made it the perfect time for a picnic. I hope you enjoyed it.
Morning Gates
Thank you for working hard to get your students to school by 8:00am. We understand that sometimes, people might be late. However, our entire staff is needed in classrooms and in the building when the bell rings. This is why they have been asked to lock the gates at 8:00am and head inside – they need to get started with supporting students.
If you notice, you are going to be even a few minutes late, please head over to the front of the school and drop your child off at the front entrance.

Gecko Run
It’s almost time for our yearly Garfield Gecko Run which is a fun Garfield fundraising event coordinated by the Garfield PTA and our PE and Music teachers, Ms. Kinney and Ms. Lepe. More information will be coming soon but if you are interested in volunteering for this event you will need to have your volunteer registration submitted and cleared. It takes around two or three weeks to clear. Here is that link: Volunteer Application
If you aren’t sure if you are still cleared to volunteer, feel free to call or come by the office to check the volunteer computer. If your name does not appear, you will need to register again. Volunteer registrations are good for two years.
Picture Day
It’s almost picture day! Picture Day at Garfield will be Friday, October 4th. Families have the option of ordering pictures by sending in the envelope portion of the flier we sent home or online at mylifetouch.com (Picture Day ID: EVT2BNZ9S)
Conferences
Fall conferences will be held October 24th and 25th. There is no school on those days. More information will be shared soon by your child’s classroom teacher.

PTA Announcement: Garfield Gecko Run
The Annual Garfield Gecko Run (Jog-a-thon) is back again! This is a fun activity that our wonderful PTA puts on for the school in collaboration with staff and volunteers. It will be October 17th at 1:00pm. Please check your children’s Friday Take Home folders for a letter with more information.
Remember if you would like to volunteer at the Gecko run, to make sure you have an up-to-date background check.
