Dear Garfield Families,
Thank you for attending the picnic and open house! I hope you all enjoyed some time with other families and staff.
Here is some information about some activities in October:
Bus evacuation drill
Each year we practice a bus evacuation drill with students where buses come to the school and classes, along with their teachers, go out to the buses to learn about bus expectations and what students do in an emergency on the bus. All students participate even though they don’t ride the bus to or from school because they do take the bus on field trips.
Health Screenings
We have health screenings for hearing, vision and dental a couple of times throughout the year and our hearing screening is scheduled for October 8th for kindergarten, first and second grade.
If you would like to opt out, we have attached the opt out form.
If you would like to have your child screened and they are not in one of these grade levels, please contact the Garfield Office to let them know and we will add them.
Picture Day
Picture day will be on October 10th, 2025
You can place your order on mylifetouch.com using your Picture Day ID: EVTCHT4J8. Order before midnight on Picture Day to get FREE shipping!
Your child can also bring their completed flyer (Going in a week )with cash or check on Picture Day. Orders after Picture Day must be placed online only on mylifetouch.com.
Breakfast Time
We are working on a way to make sure students do not lose instructional time during breakfast. This is why we moved to offering breakfast at 7:40 instead of during class time. We are going to make an adjustment to see if this helps get students to class on time. Students who come before 8:00am, will be offered breakfast in the cafeteria. Students who arrive after that time, will come through the main entrance and be offered a grab-n-go breakfast bag to take to class with them. We are going to try to see if it improves things and will let you know if and when anything changes.
