Gecko News 1/8/2026

Dear Garfield Families,

Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful winter break and enjoyed many of the activities that bring you joy! My family and I spent our break enjoying time with our extended family—something we always look forward to.

As we return and start to think about the second half of the school year, preparations for school consolidations in the district are underway. You may have seen a recent district email regarding transfers and boundaries. Because school consolidation is scheduled for the Fall of 2026, the district is sharing information early to help everyone prepare.

I want to provide a quick clarification for our current families: If you live within the Garfield boundary, or if your child is currently attending Garfield via an approved transfer or placement, your current status is not impacted by this announcement.

We are committed to keeping you informed as more details emerge and information will continue to be shared through Parentsquare as it does.

Winter layers:

Please help us keep the Lost and Found empty by writing your children’s names in their coats, sweaters, lunch boxes, water bottles and any other personal items they bring to school.

Electronic Devices and Toys

Please help us continue to provide a focused learning environment by keeping all toys and electronic devices at home for students to enjoy after school.  We appreciate your help with this.

Please Drive Slowly

To ensure the safety of our walkers and riders, please maintain a slow speed during drop-off and when pulling away. Our shared space is tight—let’s look out for one another. Thank you for driving slowly and carefully!

Assembly

We have our January assembly on January 9th at 1:00 p.m. That is this Friday. Feel free to join us!

Thank you all for your continued partnership and support.

Sincerely,

Nancy Davila-Williams, Principal
