Dear Garfield Families,
As we move to the end of February we are looking forward to the first signs of spring. To kick off the new month on the right foot, here are a few key updates for your calendar:
Read Across America
March 2nd is Read Across America Day! We have some fun reading opportunities planned for this day including some time on the reading couch, special classroom reader visits and a schoolwide pajama day! So, feel free to send your children to school in their comfy pajamas on March 2nd.
Classified Appreciation Week (March 2-6)
Please join us in recognizing the incredible staff members who keep our school running! From our classroom assistants and office team to our kitchen manager (Wendy), library tech (Profe), and custodial/campus crew (Grant and AB), these individuals support our students in countless ways.
If your student would like to participate, small tokens of appreciation are welcome. Handmade items like drawings, notes, or simple crafts are a wonderful way for students to say “thank you” for everything this team does every day.
Volunteering
Would you like to help out with field trips, Field Day or other spring events? We’d love to have you!
If you haven’t registered to volunteer yet, sign up now. Clearance can take a few weeks to process, so don’t wait until the last minute—get cleared today and be ready for the spring fun!

**5th grade parents, if you are considering chaperoning for outdoor school, there is an additional step for your registration even if you are a cleared volunteer. Please check in with the classroom teacher that you can volunteer and check in with Claudia Bouvier in the office to learn about the required fingerprinting.
Kinder Registration for 26-27
Believe it or not, it’s already time to start registering incoming kindergarten students! They grow so fast! Kindergarten registration starts on March 1st.
Families need to register for kindergarten at their boundary school starting March 1st. If you are not in the Garfield boundary and would like your child to attend our school, please make sure to apply for a transfer by February 27th. (See transfer information below)
Transfers
The Corvallis School District resident transfer window is now open.
If your Garfield student has a younger sibling, and you do not live in the Garfield boundary, we encourage you to fill out a transfer request now.
