Dear Garfield Families,
It’s been fun to see the students enjoying Spirit Week this week! Today is Pajama Day! Participation is always optional and students can also choose to come in their comfiest clothes instead. However, we ask that they not wear slippers and instead wear their regular closed-toe shoes. Thank you for your help with this.
Spirit Week
Here are the rest of the themes for Spirit Week:
Friday, October 27th: Pajama Day (PJs or any comfy clothes)
Monday, October 30th: Hat Day (Any fun hat – just need to make sure it doesn’t cover their face)
Tuesday, October 31st: School Spirit Day (Garfield T-shirts!)
**We would like to request that all costumes and candy be kept at home on Tuesday for students to enjoy with their families when they come home from school. Thank you.
Conferences
We are so excited for next week’s opportunity to hold conferences so families can meet with teachers. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to learn more about their child’s experience at school and connect with their child’s teacher.
Although we normally hold conferences every fall, there is a change this year in that teachers have less time to prepare for conferences than in years past. I am always inspired by each teacher’s commitment to preparing for their time with you. Every teacher is working hard to make this a meaningful experience for every family.
Specialist News:
Students have completed the first segment of the Art lessons – Symmetry. We learned a lot about Balance (Principal of Design) by creating symmetrical designs. From 2D to 3D, each student customized their own paper airplane. We had a lot of fun being out flying the planes before the weather got cold and wet again. In addition, all students at Garfield put their symmetrical knowledge together and created a collaborated piece – Butterfly Garden for the Art room
