Dear Garfield Families,
As we move further into the fall season, we are enjoying the rain and its unpredictable pattern throughout the school day. We try to make sure that students get to go outside for all of their recess times but at times, recess is inside. Even so, please help your student be ready to go outside for recess by sending them to school with closed toe shoes and a hooded jacket. We appreciate your help with this.
Spirit Week
A big thank you to our 5th grade group who helped us showcase the themes for Spirit Week at the assembly. Spirit week will be Wednesday, October 25 – Tuesday, October 31st.
Each Day’s Theme is:
Wednesday, October 25th: Class Mascot Day (could be the colors of their class mascot)
Thursday, October 26th: Favorite Team Day (Any team: swim, robotics, soccer, gymnastics, etc)
Friday, October 27th: Pajama Day (PJs or any comfy clothes)
Monday, October 30th: Hat Day (Any fun hat – just need to make sure it doesn’t cover their face)
Tuesday, October 31st: School Spirit Day (Garfield T-shirts!)
*There are several classes who are going on a field trip on October 31st, wearing their T-shirts will make them more visible and help us make sure they all stay together.
Garfield T-Shirts
Our plan is to have t-shirts distributed to all of our Kindergarten students before Spirit Week. So please look for those in their backpacks on Monday, October 16th.
Conferences
Conferences are coming up and will be held on November 1st and 2nd. There is no school November 1-3rd. Garfield teachers have created conference sign-ups on ParentSquare and have sent those out to families. You should have received a notification in ParentSquare.
If you need help with signing up for a conference time, please stop by the office.
Gecko Run Pledges
Thank you so much for your Gecko Run donations! We appreciate your support.
Toys, trading cards and electronics
Please make sure your student is not coming to school with trading cards, toys or electronics. We are fortunate to have the necessary materials and equipment appropriate for the school day. Personal toys, electronics and cards can be left at home for students to enjoy after school.
There may be some confusion due to a Trading Card art lesson coming up in art class. Our art teacher will have trading cards available to use as inspiration for this art activity in her classroom – Students do not need to bring cards to school for this. Thanks for your help.
Important upcoming dates:
Oct. 25-31st: Spirit Week
Nov. 1-2nd: Conferences
Nov. 3rd: Non School Day

Have a nice weekend.
