Principal's message
Dear Families,
I am happy to share that we are transitioning into the Garfield building again! The school office is now located in a classroom on the southeast side of the building. You will see signs on the classroom door that faces our new parking lot.
The classrooms in the primary (west) wing have been updated. The office space is still under construction. This space has been divided out of our teaching space. This means that construction workers are accessing this space from the outside and there is a wall that divides the space inside.
The bathrooms in the central part of the building have been updated and the two classrooms to the east of the bathrooms have been updated. To the east of those two classrooms is where the library, art and science space will be located. This portion of the building is still under construction. The construction crew is also working on the addition on the north side of the gym and ensuring that the gym roof is up to code.
What this means for those working at Garfield is that we have a continuous space throughout the school that spans from one end to the other. There are construction spots on the south side and the north side of the building but they are separated out from the educational space.
To add to all of this, we have 11 portables in place behind the school to house the classrooms that are still under construction. Although we are not done, it is so exciting to see the progress and be able to envision what opportunities our students will have in this new space.
We know that it is not a safe option to open the space for people to come and see it, so we will share photos of the space to give you an idea of how things are progressing.
