Hello everyone!
We had such beautiful weather today! It was hard to believe today was December 1st! Let’s dive into some information about this week:
Masks
The district sent out the following information about masks yesterday:
“In their update, OHA lifted the outdoor mask requirement for K-12 schools. Similar to other COVID-19 prevention strategies, outdoor face covering is now a local decision. Today, Benton County removed the local requirement for use of masks or cloth face-coverings in outdoor public settings.
This means that masks or face-coverings will no longer be required when students are outdoors. Kids are welcome to continue to wear masks outside if they choose to. Please continue to encourage students to follow spacing guidance while outside and unmasked.”
Knowing that students would come to school with varying levels of understanding around this update, teachers were asked to use some time to discuss this with students before their first recess today. We talked about what this might look like at recess but really to encourage students to follow the expectations that their parents have around mask use outdoors and to make sure to explain that this is the only part that has changed – and that anyone who would prefer to wear one outdoors can of course, still do so. So far, we’ve seen kids preferring to have their mask on and maybe just pull it down for some fresh air now and again which seemed to work well today.
