Gecko News (12-4-2020)

Dear Families,

Thank you to all of our families who participated in conferences with teachers.  This is a powerful opportunity for teachers to learn from families and families to gain insight into how their children are progressing.  If you haven’t had the opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher and would like to schedule a conference, please contact the teacher directly or call the Garfield office at 541-757-5941.

In your child’s next delivery, you will see the Garfield School Compact (you can also access the document through this link).  This is an agreement between families, students and staff that we will work together to create a successful school experience for each child.  When you receive the compact, please take a moment to review the compact with your child and sign it.  Once you have discussed and signed the contract, please return it to the Garfield office.  I have also included a signature page as an electronic Google Form.  If you prefer, you can complete the form virtually.

On December 8th at 6:00 pm, Garfield School will host a parent meeting to share information about the next steps in comprehensive distance learning and hybrid learning.  We will share the information that we have about moving to hybrid learning in a safe manner and transition plans.

In an effort to address questions that you have, please submit any questions you have about hybrid learning.  Attached you will find a form where you can submit questions.  If you would like to share your questions another way, please call the office at 541-757-5941.  You can share your question with any office staff member.  They will not have answers at that moment but we will collect the questions to share information that we do have at the December 8th meeting.

Garfield is organizing a donation drive to collect new winter hats, socks and masks.  We are asking for all sizes from infant to adult to support some families in our community. We are calling this project DECEMBER IS FOR GIVING. This is a project that you and your family can participate in with your child, if you are able to and would like to do so.

You can bring your donations to the lunch pick-up area at Linus Pauling, on the 2nd, 9th and 16th of December from 11:45-1:00.  Here are some ideas of items that you could donate.  You can drop items off in the box at the Garfield School Office entrance during office hours (Monday-Friday 8-3).

Sincerely,

Leigh Santy
