Hello Garfield Families!
Recently we all received a notice from the district about Oregon Health Authority’s Guidance Changes. I have heard your concerns and want to remind everyone that we are just being informed and that more information will come about this. Currently, we are still wearing masks in school buildings.
“Please note that masks are still required in our schools for all students, families, staff, and visitors at this time. If masking requirements become a local decision, we will work with our local health authority to determine how this will impact our district. Masks will still be required on district transportation because that is a federal requirement.”
Mid-year Reports:
Teachers have been working hard to share some information about your student’s progress! The mid year progress reports will be sent home on Friday, 2/11 in student backpacks.
Non-school Days:
- Next Friday, February 18th is a two-hour early release day.
- There is no school on Monday, February 21st.
Here are the updated flowcharts for when to keep kids home and when to bring them to school:
Can my student go to school?
- For students UP TO DATE on their vaccination (English)
- For students NOT up to date on their vaccination (English)
Cell Phones at School:
We have been having some issues with cell phones that are being brought to school. We discourage this practice due to student safety and focus. However, it is understood that students need to be able to contact parents after school for various reasons. Therefore, the expectation is that students will have their phone off and in their backpack for the school day. The backpack will stay in the classroom. Students who take their phones out to recess or around the building, are having them taken away for parents to pick up in the office or for students to pick up at the end of the day.
Please be aware that we are not liable for any lost or damaged phones or watch phones that are being sent to school with students.
Thanks everyone. Have a great weekend!
