Dear Garfield Families,
During some time outside with a student, I mentioned that it was starting to rain and the student reminded me of how happy the plants are going to be. Even though it’s cold and rainy some days, we still like to get outside with kids as much as we can. Please remember to send students with a warm coat and comfortable, close-toed shoes to school each day so they can focus on playing and having fun.
Family Engagement Night
The 4-5 Family Engagement Night (FEN) was a fun event! It was nice to be able to come together to work on a collective art piece. We are going to continue this project with the 2nd and 3rd grade families. The 2nd and 3rd grade Family Engagement Night will be March 7th at 5:30pm in the cafeteria. We hope all the 2-3 families can join us!
Kinder Registration Reminder:
Kindergarten registration opened March 1, 2024 and is available on the Corvallis School District website under New Student Enrollment.
**Siblings of Garfield students from families that live outside the Garfield boundary still need to register at their boundary school and submit a transfer request to come to Garfield.
Transfer requests will be accepted online for Corvallis residents from March 18 – April 1, 2024. The transfer window for non-residents Is from April 15-April 29, 2024. Transfers will be subject to grade-level enrollment and space limitations.
Please Slow Down
The speed limit in school zones is 20mph. Please help us keep students safe by making sure to slow down in school zones. We are noticing some cars going too fast in the drop-off lane – please make sure to go slow in the drop-off lane.
Crossing Guards
Our crossing guards report that drivers are starting to drive before they are able to get back on the sidewalk safely. Please help us keep both students and staff safe by staying stopped until both students AND the crossing guards are on the sidewalk. Thank you!
