Hello everyone!
Thank you all for your help with getting students connected during morning learning time! It’s great to see all the kids interacting with their classmates and teachers. It has also been great to see our second through fifth grade students that are back in the building for hybrid! They are doing a really nice job with the Covid Safety protocols at school.
We now have some of our students from kindergarten through fifth grade joining us for hybrid at Garfield which means we have more foot traffic at the gates. Please help us during arrival and dismissal by making sure to keep things moving at drop off and pick up time to avoid crowding at the gates so we can respect social distancing. All gates should be clear of people to allow students to exit and enter promptly.
Please remember that we have 2 gates: one for kinder and 1st graders (south gate) and one for 3rd-5th graders (north gate). All 2nd graders are dropped off in front of the school on the east side of the office. Thank you for your help with this.
Picture day is next week! Cohort A will have Picture Day on Tuesday, April 6th during their hybrid time in the afternoon. Cohort B will have Picture Day on Thursday, April 8th during their hybrid time in the afternoon. Cohort C will have two options for picture day. Students in cohort C can come in for pictures between 7:30am and 11:45am either on Tuesday the 6th or Thursday the 8th. They will have their picture taken in a classroom located on the east side of the building (between 2nd grade and the office). Parents can park in our new parking lot and look for the Picture Day sign!

Here is some important information to have handy related to hybrid instruction. You will find a video explaining the arrival and dismissal procedures, a map of drop off and pick up spots, and a description of symptoms that we are asking all families to screen for before sending their student to school.
Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Nancy Davila-Williams,
Garfield Interim Principal
Message from the library
Dear Parents,
Now that students are back in school we are sending out an urgent plea for library books to be returned. The Garfield library currently has almost 400 books still missing. That’s a lot of books that have not come back. It is difficult to replace books, not to mention the cost! So, we are asking everyone to please look around at home one more time, find those books and bring them back to the Garfield library.
Thank you for your help!!
