Gecko News (6/7/2024)

Dear Garfield Families,

We have many fun activities planned for this week!

Field Day Update:

It’s time for field day! Students will be rotating with a group through six fun field day stations!

The stations are:

  • Sack Races
  • Water Bucket Relay
  • Three legged race
  • Tug-o-war
  • Sponge relay and
  • Popsicles

As you can see, there will be some water play these days! Please send students to school in comfortable clothes and shoes for field days. They may get a little wet but they’ll have some time to  dry off. However, you are welcome to send them to school with an extra set of clothes in their backpacks.

Volunteers: If you are planning to help with field days, please make sure you have communicated that to either your child’s classroom teacher, to me or to the front office. We need to assign volunteers to specific tasks to help make this a successful event. Thank you.

Volunteers:

It is too late to register to volunteer at this point in the school year. As was communicated throughout the year, it can take up to three weeks sometimes to be cleared. We are not able to speed up the process for anyone. So, if you haven’t registered, please consider registering for the fall.

Garfield Community Picnic and Art Show:

We are so excited for the Garfield Community Picnic and Art Show!  It will be from 5:30 to about 7:00 pm. Students will be performing some of the songs they have learned in music class this year! Also, some of the artwork they have created in art class will be displayed for all to enjoy!

Please bring your family’s picnic dinner and join us for this fun event. We hope to see you there.
