Dear Garfield Families,
I hope you are all doing well! Thank you so much for joining us for our first assembly of the year. We kicked off the school year by introducing our staff to the students, complete with a fun group entry! It was a fantastic way to welcome everyone back.
We have a big event coming up next week! Your child should have brought home a pledge sheet today with details about the Garfield Gecko Run.
Event Details:
- Date & Time: Thursday, September 24, from 1:00–2:00 p.m.
- Location: Garfield field
We will have three tracks running simultaneously: one for K–1st, one for 2nd–3rd, and one for 4th–6th grade.
Please send your child to school in comfortable clothes and shoes that they can run in. While we will have water stations available, students are encouraged to bring a labeled water bottle.
If you would like to volunteer during the event, please ensure you are a cleared volunteer.
However, all families are welcome to come cheer on our runners! We’ll have designated cheering sections at each track. It’s always a highlight of the fall, and the weather forecast looks beautiful. We hope to see you there!

Volunteers at Garfield help in so many ways and make such a difference in our community!
If you are interested in volunteering, you will need to complete this registration and be cleared beforehand: VOLUNTEER APPLICATION
- Please know that it takes a few weeks to be cleared and clearance is required before the date you want to volunteer.
- Volunteer clearance is good for 2 school years. (however, if you apply in April that counts for the 26-27 school year. So, apply now to be cleared for the full school year.
